The official records, publications, historical documents, and correspondence of the Central States Anthropological Society (CSAS) are preserved in the National Anthropological Archives. The archives and series of historical materials were originally organized by Barry L. Isaac (Emeritus Professor of Anthropology, University of Cincinnati). CSAS members are forever grateful for his efforts to conceive and establish this documentary record covering the years 1922-1976. Copies of materials assembled by Prof. Isaac have been retained by the CSAS archivist. Readers will enjoy his synopsis of the society’s early history through the 1950s:
